Seeding season is underway, and many FarmDroid FD20 robots are now working in fields across different regions. While the FD20 also handles automated weeding and spraying, the focus right now is naturally on precision seeding. We’re receiving feedback from the first weeks, and we wanted to share some early observations.

Why precision seeding matters

Precision seeding aims to place seeds at the optimal depth and spacing. This helps promote uniform germination and plant growth, potentially contributing to better yields. The autonomous FarmDroid FD20 is designed to work towards this accuracy, operating consistently for precise seed placement.

Early observations from the field

Our team has been visiting some customers, and it’s valuable to hear about their experiences. Some users have reported smooth operation and reliability, including successful seeding of sugar beet and chicory over significant areas. We’ve also heard positive comments on the accuracy of precision seeding for crops like onions, and observations of consistent depth control and stability. We know experiences can vary depending on conditions, but these early reports are encouraging.

Supporting smooth operation

Farming technology involves adapting to conditions. Our Care team is available to assist when challenges arise, like a recent GPS configuration issue that was quickly resolved for one user. Supporting our customers to achieve smooth operation remains a priority.

Looking ahead

Precision seeding is the first task for the FD20 this season. Later, the same robot will handle automated weeding, contributing to the farm’s workflow throughout the growing period.
